I was kidding around with a friend and said that wangsty Raphael of this strip was almost worse than Emo Hobocore. To which we replied double-u tee eff, and instead of searching through the archives for the strip I Googled it, and found this Urban Dictionary article
In this article they mention a band called Trashcan of Deception, who apparently started off in 2005.
I am wondering, are the two unrelated, or did one set off the other?
Who came first, the strip or the band?

It started some time during the late eighties early nineties, with Madonna singing some dude made her feel like a virgin. And it just sort escalated from there. (It might have started way earlier thou, I am only 22, so anything really old I won't have discovered yet.)
Alice Copper made a video with half naked women prancing around in a room full of chains hanging from the ceiling. That was considered risqué. It's was considered downright indecent.

And then comes the middle and late nineties. The innocent little pop-princesses started growing up. Discovering the world, and themselves, and, well, sex.
It gave us Britney videos like this:

I must admit this is about where I stopped listening to the radio, and just about then Crappy-Reality-Show-Channel (otherwise known as MTV) stopped showing music videos, so the further development was lost on me.
That is until lady GAGA entered the stage. Her style blatantly stolen from fetish models such as Miss Mosh. (Warning: I have waived the no porn rule in this case. That is a fetish porn site. It is NOT SAFE FOR WORK (or moms))
She put on latex and ballerina heels and made herself out to be the next big shocking thing.
Her lyrics have a double meaning and sexual innuendo up the wazoo.

She kept escalating and eventually donned a wannabe-gimpmask and made Bad Romance.

It's rather stunning visually actually.

In between these two, Britney wanted to show she could be sexy too.
And fell flat on her face.

Okey, so I am so scared of zombies I am sometimes afraid to go out when it's dark, so the intro to this one freaked me out. I saw a scene production Henrik Ibsens Lady from the Sea a long while ago, in Bollywood style. Which was what opened my eyes for Bollywood. But the thing is, while getting subbed Bollywood movies probably isn't as hard as I think, I haven't gotten around to it yet.
The only Bollywood-esque movie I have ever the whole of was some Pakistani deal, where they to actually fit the whole thing on the VHS had taken all the dancing and singing OUT TT.TT

But, happily, there is an annual Bollywood festival here in Oslo. I think I am actually gonna prepare and go this year. (Prepare, because I usually find out when it's being held, the week after it's done. Yah....)

I was logging on earlier, and I always take a swift look at the "recommended for you" box at the front page, usually it's nothing interesting, but once in a blue moon something cool comes up. Last time it was Benjamin Biolay, which is a french artist in the style of Emilie Simon and Manu Chau.
Today it was Gwen Steffani, which led me to No Doubt and such songs as Ex-Girlfriend, Hella Good and Rock Steady. I had totally forgotten, but I LOVE No Doubt! They are the totally best of the 90's. Never mind BubbleGum Dance, thou it rocks my panties, No Doubt is the absolute BEST of the 90's and early 2000's=D

And you know the hands down coolest thing about Spotify? That they have complete discographies. Sad for me, a song of their first album from 92, is effing awesome=D

Music for rainy days

It's 20:57, the sky is a sicky dark orangy red sort of colour (gotta love that light pollution right?), and it's raining.
I got home about an hour ago and my shoes are still dripping (yes litteraly, Keds are not made for rainy weather) where they hang in the bathroom. Ditto with my jeans and umbrella.

The return of Ai Kago

Now, I don't usually give an horse's **** about the personal life of any star, or the inner workings of any group, causing me rather often to miss the release date of new albums and causing me to miss Kaizers Orchestra's new album entirely (it was only available for a week. Stupid band)
Anywho, I suddenly got an impulse to read the Wikipedia entry of Miss Ai Kago, who is formerly one half of the J-pop group W, and I discovered that she has released a solo single under a month ago.


I actually really liked it. She was cute and all when she was in W, but eventually you grow tired of candyfloss, and I love her new grown up look and sound.
She looks like she has gotten through her troubles very well, and even thou it has been rough going for her she seems to be doing well now and that is so nice=D=D (she was kicked out of Hello! project for smoking and being involved with an older man, which I find weird, seeing as the age of sexual consent in Japan is somewhere between 13 and 18 depending on where you reside, I think is was the fact that he was older then her, even thou she was 18, and the legal, at the time)
I also discovered that she has written book, which I will have to buy when I am in Japan=D

I think it's nice that she has gotten her career up and running again, because she actually has talent, and not all the Hello! project girls do.

I do however understand fully her need to rebel, she has been a star, under close watch and curfew since she was admitted into Hello! project at the age of twelwe. She has never had freedom over her life, and the Japanese media is insane, picking on every little thing and digging through pasts over a low threshold. I would go perfectly insane.
You think the Disney girls has it hard? If pictures like the ones of Miley Cyrus would be leaked, not only would their career be destroyed entirely, their entire lives would be ruined and they would be totally shunned. So I understand her. Poor girl...

Emilie in concert

So I saw Emilie Autumn in concert yesterday. And it was awesome^^, I'm usually so music oriented that I even manage to not be aware when the bands I like release new albums even (seeing as I don't read anything at all about them almost), and going to see bands in concert is for mostly about music being better live, so the visuals isn't all that important to me. I discovered however that an Emilie concert is just as much about the visual. She had acrobatics, and fireshow, and girls walking around in these beautiful corsets. She has long talking sequences too, and theatrics, it was just too awesome=D=D
I am so going the next time she comes=D=D

I got there before my friends, and ended up talking to this 15 year old girl who had traveled for 7 hours by train to go to Oslo to see Emilie. When my friends came we ended up talking about all the concerts we have traveled abroad for, to which she starry eyed replied that she hoped she'd be like us when she grew upXD

More Bubblegum Dance (aka. my homework is boringXD)

Do you remember this one?
I loved this one. And I still remember the lyrics, even thou about 10 years since I heard it last. I have an insane memory for the lyrics of good songs^^, And Pokémon. I can still name all of the 151 first Pokémon on sight. Most of them the type and which evolution stage they're on, and the rest of the evolutions for them as well. To me the 151 first are the true Pokémon, they got weirder and weirder after that, and by the time Crystal was released I had gotten way too coolXP Oh, am I glad I grew out of that or whatXD
Music videos in the nineties, at least for the Bubblegum Dance genre (yes, I know it was started by Me&My in 95, and thus only lasted for the second half of the nineties, but I am gonna call it the videos of the nineties if I want to. It's my blog, so thereXD) was really trippy.
Some of them is like watching MAMA on speed and that movie is trippy enough on it's ownXD
Aaah... I'm in a good mood, so I am going to give you Titi Suru's song just for the heck of it^^,



In case you have not heard of MAMA it's a musical about the Big Bad Wolf. From the 1976. Starring the Moscow Ballet.
Whoever got the idea for it has to have been stoned.XD It was actually recorded in 3 versions. One in English, one in Russian and one in language I can't remember, but I have known on some point.
They used to show it at Easter on TV in Norway until the middle of the nineties. I was too young to remember more than little snippets, but I saw at the movies last year. And oh my gosh, was I sold? I love trippy things (as you must have noticedXD). And I love old things (all about corsets and Marilyn Monroe this one. Almost...XD). And I love ballet and musicals. How on earth could I not love this movie?
I want this on DVD if anyone wonders what I want for my birthdayXD

Bubblegum Dance (aka I miss the nineties)

Do you remember the nineties? When Aqua and ToyBox ruled the music scene? When music was bouncy and colourful and fun? Well, before I turned dark and angry I loved what I have later discovered was called Bubblegum Dance, and now, thanks to the wonder that is YouTube I have rediscovered the genre.
Here I thought I was too young to listen "oldies", but this can called nothing else. And I love it!^^,
I would even frequent the scary clubbing scene if they still played this music, dressed to boot in pinky shiny stuff, glitter and angelwings^^, (OMG! I just discovered I am cheesy O.o)
I wish I could travel back to the nineties, and still be twenty (or maybe 23, so that they would actually let inXP), so that I could dance the night away the Tamagotchi song, Coco Jambo, Licky Licky, DubIDub, and all the other wonderfully sugary music that is Bubblegum Dance^^,

Japanese RnB

Japanese RnB O.o Who would have thunk it? I did not know such a thing existed.
Now, I don't really like RnB, but this song has a gorgeously minimalistic, sleek sound, and I was sold during the first few beats.
Apparently this beautiful, talented little thing has a really tragic story. From what I gather she originally had a duo act with her sister Sachiko, and they seem to have done well. But then her sister died of a brain hemorrhage in the late nineties. Takako (which is her real name) kept on performing, and adopted the name the duo had used for her own.

This song I've provided you with the video of is my favorite among her songs thus far.

I'm just now realizing how little I really know about Japanese music. How on earth could I not realize that there is such a thing as Japanese RnB? Oh well... Now I'll go see what other Japanese genres I'm missing out on^^,

I have come to the conclusion that Britney makes cool music these days. Actually, I have come to the conclusion that she has been making cool music for quite some time. I was just too "cool" to notice XP
This new song thou, I don't really like it all that much. It's a cool song and all, but the chorus is annoying. It's all repetitive and generic.
One thing I like about the video thou, is the fact that she has become so much more versatile after she shaved her head. She takes on different persona much more effectively when she can use different wigs, and she is using that for all it's worth. Even if they look a bit like helmets thou. They are obviously synthetic. She needs to get a better wigmaker.

Nortec Collective

Fiancé is so nice^^, I have had a pretty craptastic day, so he took me to see the opening concert for Oslo World Music Festival. The Nortec Collective was playing. After about 30-45 boring minutes of Åse Kleveland saying the same things over and over the concert started.
Nortec Collective had grasped something that most other bands have not. Visuals can make music better. Not that the music wouldn't be just as good on it's own, but they had a great big screen behind the stage showing different video clips. Most of them were from Tijuana, which is where the band comes from, and for me that don't dance it was nice having something interesting to look at. Now, I love to look at people dancing, and there was this girl dancing right in front of me waving her tush in my face (I was sitting), which was very nice to look at, but even that gets old after a while, and then the video clips were nice to have.
The music itself was awesome, a mix of norteño and techno. If you want a listen just click the post title and it will take you straight to their myspace site. The band were awesome on stage, you could tell that they really loved playing live, they were jumping and smiling and having a great time. For me it's kind of important that people perform love every minute of it. Dancers dragging their bodies around, or singers or actors that look bored out of their minds make my soul hurt. I would give so much to be there on that stage with them, and when they look bored or as if they don't enjoy themselves it's an insult to everyone who would kill to be on that stage. But I am digressing. The audience was great too, dancing and jumping and loving every minute of the concert. They literally screamed for more when the band started to go off stage, and they played three encores.

The Battery came in as a very strong second, and we are all very pleased. This means they are going to the Scandinavian finals in November, which will win. I have decided they will so they will *nods*
The song that won was my personal favorite of the ten, I love the Battery's song, but to be quite frank I like the BlackSheeps' song better. It's more the kind of music I listen to normally, might have something to do with that. Plus the singer had this larger than life voice and this amazing stage presence. It doesn't really matter thou, because they are both going to Denmark and the Battery is winning that for sure.
The Battery had a huge crowd in audience cheering for them thou, my mother tells me that Brage's mother, who was in charge of the tickets, had ordered over 200, so it was half of Surnadal there cheering them on. We all had bright orange t-shirts and we were loud. We were so many that they had to place us two places in the concert hall (it seemed that they put all of the family and supporters for the different musicians together, so that it would be easy to point the camera at people who are cheering and waving posters), and we could see each other and were having cheering contests and everything. The supporters from one of the soloartists sat between us and were trying their best to keep up, but every time the started we attacked them from two sides and their cheers drowned in our awesome volume. This was all before the actual show thou, since we couldn't very well be that uncivilized on TV >.<
But we were loud under the show too, and I cheered at everyone, as did most of those around me. I must have been fun to watch thou, because the man with the sweeping boom camera thingy kept pointing it at me, and I think he even put me on the screen (I know a few things about red lights and whatnot XP).
I feel sorry for the little girl who misread thou, she was reading the points the for the artists in the super final, and some blockhead idiot grown up doofus had decided that put the total score next to the score she was actually supposed to read. So halfway through she misread, and said the Battery got 17000 points, and we went through the roof, and then it turns out that was the total, and we only got 4000. Poor thing, an 8 year old is not equipped to be able to sort out which column to read from when she is high strung and nervous and is going to be on national TV. I do not understand what the point of having the totals there at all, since nobody read them, and if she was supposed to read both she most likely would have done it right. She read wrong twice. I feel really sorry for her, it's not her fault that grown ups sometimes are total idiots, but I think she did a very good job, she only looked confused (and slightly very panicked), and did not start to cry, as I bet I would have. I think she did very good and was very brave and if anyone who reads this have any connection to her please tell her so (yes I know it's a one in a million chance, but anyway).
I had a great time, and the Battery did great, and will win the finals, because all of you will vote, and because they are great^^, And I so timing my visit to Surnadal next year to one of the shows (if they still play small shows then...=D)
And if anyone is going be a cheer crowd at something like this: white matching t-shirts are pointless, even if they have printing on them, 'cos you can't see the printing from a distance. But if you wear screaming colours, like orange. Everybody saw us=D=D

Okey, so I lied

I was sitting here in my parents kitchen eating my dinner/nigthfood (I came home half past 10 and needed to downwind a bit before making dinner), chatting with V, trying to decide what to furnish my new Neohome with, trying remember the reading for 納豆 (which is nattou BTW), with WinAmp yodeling along on shuffle in the background when this unbelievable drippingly wonderlicious Bertine remix comes along to snake itself sexily into my ears. I goddam freakin' love this song. (FYI it's past twelve and I should be in bed, I am allowed to be enthusiaticXD)
I kid you not, the deeper love remix of Ah Ah is freaking fantastic!
And then, to make matters worse (or better actually), I turn of shuffle and the next song is wonderlicious as well.
I admit it, I love the remix CD. I must have been in a bad mood or not listening closely when I listened to it last time. Or maybe I am just giddy from lack of sleep? Anyway, right now, at almost half past midnight, in my sleep deprived, exhausted from being on the run all day, gloriously stuffed, happyhappy state I hereby declare that I love the Bertine Zetlitz Best of Bonus Remix CD and will listen it all night. I do, however, not guarantee that I will love it tomorrow.
This seems like a good time to go brush my teeth and go to bed. Nighty night goodfolk^^,

Kaizers Orchestra rocks again

So I finally got around to listen closely to Maskineri.
I'm still not too happy that they moved out of their universe, since the very special Kaizerverse was one of the things I liked best about them, but some of the songs evens out the disappointment.
"Den andre er meg" is just so sad and beautiful, and I think it's my favorite on the entire album.
One thing I like is that they have managed to keep most of their special sound, but I miss the oil barrel hitting, the dirty aspect of their sound. Apart from that thou I like it. Even if I think they peaked with their album "Ompa til du dør". It is still my favorite, and I think it always will be^^,
