Still at Birdie, and the photo competition just had a showing of the pictures, one of which portray yours truly playing with soap bubbles. And from the stage area where all the people were watching came a "fan hva snygt" (Damn, how pretty). Now they might have been talking about the bubbles, but my ego chooses to think they were talking about me^^,
I don't think we'll win thou, I think the half naked chick with the pink hair will win. Seeing as how she's half naked in the pics XP

Crappy piece of crap (also: Birdiebirdienomnom)
You know my craptacular piece of crap that tries to pass itself off as a laptop.
It's broken. AGAIN!!!!
At the worst time possible. Again.
There's Birdie this weekend, which is a big LAN/demo party in Uppsala in Sweden. And the day before we are to leave miss craptacular decides she doesn't like her power button, and refuses to turn on!!!!
I ended up having to bring the piece of shit Dell. It turned off 3 times due to the heat in the hall we're in before I just had to go buy a big fan thingy to put underneath it. It works like a dream thou, no more problem.
We arrived in Stockholm after a 6 hour train ride about 2 yesterday and went shopping before travelling on to Uppsala.
I bought Kamikaze Girls, Cutie Honey and Sex is Zero on DVD. The two first are Japanese and the last one is Korean.
I have started watching Cutie Honey, and it's so over the top it's pure genius. If you have seen Cybergirl it's even more over the top than that. It's awesome beyond belief=D=D
It's really hot here. They have everything that can be open open, but take around 1k computers and laptops and put them into a hall about the size of a junior high PE hall, and you get a hot hall indeed.
Actually it's not so bad right now, because most of the kids are sleeping.

Why I love Datakjeden
Yeah, S, I know that you are way less than impressed with Datakjeden, but I think they are the most awesome webshop EVER.^^, Let's agree to disagree, ne?
So I wrote yesterday that my computer broke, and then started working again. Just like that.
So I sent a rather upset email to Jørn, who is the tech dealing with case over Datakjeden, explaining how frustrated I am with this, and how I really can't be without a computer this close to my exams, and how, if my computer really breaks down it would be a catastophe, and how I can't really afford to pay the fee if I send it in and it's not really broken.
I got an answer today, from a very concerned and understanding Jørn. He wants me to send my computer in to be looked at on monday (becuase it's obviously not feeling well and you can't have it fail on you right before your exams), and in the mean time, while it is getting fixed I get to borrow a computer from Datakjeden, so that I won't be without a computer, and so that I can study for my exams.
He seems as frustrated with this as I am, and he totally understand how awful this is for me.
And seriously, it really is awful. I spent my study fund on this computer, money that my parents have saved up for me for many years. And then it just breaks over and over. I cried. I am not ashamed to admit it. When it broke the first time I cried, when I got it back, after almost two months, and it was still broken, I cried. And when the screen just went black, and it told me I didn't have an OS (Windows) yesterday, I litterally shook with tears.
I am starting to develop a strong hate for this computer (which resulted in a rather graphic poem over at Deranged Poetry), and I will never buy anything labeled Acer EVER AGAIN.
Yes, I know I was told to go with Dell or HP, but they just could not match the battery time (which was the main reason I bought this hunk of junk in the first place) within my price range.
And in any case it was the harddrive that failed, and that can happen to any computer at all. If the harddrive fails, it does so within the first three months. Which mine did.
It is mostly the treatment I have gotten with Acer that appals me. (yeah, you've all heard it, but I am going there again)
It took them a month to fix the damned thing (the rest was used on mailing it back and forth and the diagnostics Datakjeden performed to find out what was wrong in the first place). And I understand that they have a lot to do, and that they get backlogged, so I acept that, it's just annoying is all.
But when I get the computer back and it's still broken. Yes, the new harddrive works, but not in my computer, as the device drivers was probably not for my model, but another model which uses the same harddrive.
Jørn tried to fix it for me, but it was little he could do, so he directed me to Acer. Where they talk to me like I am a blasted idiot, and I probably killed the damned thing myself.
And did I remember to tell you that Acer refuses to fix anything at all, if it's sent back in anything but the original packaging with ALL the parts and papers it came with, but that they don't send it all back? I got my computer back wrapped in poorly taped bublewrap, with the power cord lying loose on top and the screen cover crumpled in a corner. Jørn was amazed actually. He said that that is not the way it's supposed to be done.
So the stupid second tech I got to talk to at Acer (the first one told me to run the test that made Jørn tell me to call them directly in the first place, again) listen to the things that I tell him and then goes quiet for a couple of minutes, asking for my information from time to time. Then he tells me that he has sent me an RMA number so that I could send the laptop in and they could fix it. And that's when I told him in no uncertain terms exactly what I thought of sending my computer back so that they coulod spend another month installing my OS, when I am perfectly able to run a freakin' recovery disc, which was what I asked him for in the first place.
So he very meekly told me he had transfered me to the recovery department, who would send me a form that I had to fill out, and return to them, and only then would they send me any recovery disks. I don't get why they can't just send them to me, it's not like they work on any other computer than my model with my herdware.
That was last tuesday or wednesday, and I haven't heard from them yet.
So yah. I effing HATE Acer.

Why my birthday sucks...
I am so upset right now, I just want to lay down and cry.
You know the nice new computer that I had to borrow money from my study-funds to buy, right?
The one that broke after a month? The one that it took stupid Acer almost two months to fix? The one that I got back with no Windows, and that we had to crack a Windows so that I could use at all while we wait for Acer to send us the disks with the legal Windows (which I still have not gotten)?
It broke again today. It's been less than two weeks since I got it back, a glorified papaerweight, and now it's back to paperweight status.
I hate Acer with all my black little soul right now. My wonderful new machine, that I was going to use for school, just dies and dies and dies, over and over again. I just want to throw the damned thing in an industrial shredder.
And to top that off, it's my birthday. I am turning 22 today, and here I sit, crying, with a broken computer. At least I didn't lose any important data this time.
This is why my birthday sucks.

And then for some reason, when we do diagnostics the damned thing just decides to start running again. I am still calling Acer tomorrow thou, to tell them to hurry the hell up with my discs, and to ask what to do when the harddrive fails again. Because the two things that can have caused this are: the harddrive is failing (again), or some device drivers are doing mortal combat, because without the damned discs we cannot be completely sure we have the right ones.
I do repeat thou, do NOT buy from Acer. EVER

Yeah, I know that a vast majority of my friends are gamers, but I like to believe you are polite gamers, who when the Demo showing is going on, will turn down your music so that it does not bother the people who actually want to look at (and hear) the awesomeness that apperently is beyond the grasp of the feeble minds possessed by the gamers here at The Gathering 2010.

DemoScener's Oscar Awards
So apparently there's an Oscar type award for DemoSceners. It's called Scene.org awards (unless it's called something elseXP).
It's just finished at BreakPoint in Germany, and we got it live here at TG^^, Which was fun^^,
There wrere lot of awesome nominees, and all the winners were well deserving^^,
It's awesome that they stuff like this. I want to be up on that stage somedayXP Fat chanceXP But I am allowed to dream rightXP
Oh, and it's allowed to consume alcohol at BreakPoint. I saw alot of underwear tonightXP

Rude Dude Resolved
For those of you who saw the Rude Dude post before I took it down, because I thought it was too agressive, the matter has resolved itself. We did not get him to move, but I found somewhere else to sit, still next to boyfriend.
My computer is up and running again (yeah we dowloaded windows, but it's my right! I have legally paid for windows, and it's acer's fault that I don't have a legally installed version right now. Send it back, my behind), but I'll still be mostly unreachable thou, because I will be playing with Blender^^,
(Which is a 3D modelling program, in case you did not know^^, I am already Noctural's main lightpainter, but I plan to become their 3D modeller also. I plan to make myself indespensibleXP)

First I slept a couple of hours on the concrete at the stands, and then I slept a couple of hours at my desk with boyfriend's sleeping bag as a pillow. As you can probably guess, I'm hella tired.
But the blaring speakers have calmed down, and there's someone a couple of rows over playing techno remixes of songs I like, which is really cool^^,
We are going to enter another contest and then we are going out for breakfast. I'm gonna drink a gallon of coffee, I swearXP

We arrived an hour and a half ago, and thus far my only impression of TG is that it is noisy and flashyXP
There are strobe lights, blaring speakers and people absolutely EVERYWHERE.
Anyone who really knows me should be damn impressed I'm not cowering in a corner right nowXP
It's just about everything that freaks me out at once^^,
Social training is important thou, which is why I'm here in the first place.

I am running the drunken singing list on full volume on my pink skullcandy headphones to drown out all the other noise and writing this blogpost.
The lights are purdy thou^^, Even if they make my head hurtXP
I'm guessing it will be better when they turn the lights on in the morning.
The prospects for Pichu is looking up thou (she might need a new name now thou, seeing as she has a new harddrive and therefore is basically almost brand new again. Since I have to set her up again with my settings and programs and everything).
We are downloading Windows 7 of the net, and installing that. And before you go report me to whatever stupid people that you would report this to: I am using my own product key, which I payed for, and if you are going to report anybody at all, you can damned well report Acer, who sent my computer back BROKEN in the first place *glares*

Maxwell's Silver Hammer is the most genius song ever written.^^, My Norwegian textbook in junior high said the Beatles only wrote half-assed love songs. They obviously had not heard Beatles. It's one of the most deviously innocent murder songs I have ever heard. At least the Curse of Milhaven sounds evolXP
Beatles definitely rank up there with Bertine Zetlitz and Kaizers Orchestra^^,
Meh, my stupid armband thingy is really annoying=/
I have been up for 18 hours, and I plan to stay up another six, so expect more nonsensical blogposts during the night^^,
Yeah, and until my own 'puter is up and running, this will be the only thing I will do at a computer seeing as I have to borrow boyfriend's computer, and I guessing he wants to use it himself at some point during the nightXP
So no mail, no facebook, and no msn on me until I have my own toy to play onXP
Oh and one more thing before I go hunting for something containing ridiculous amounts of sugar and caffeine, TG has a nautical theme this year, so there are giant Tentacruels having from the ceiling, and Tentacools on stage.

Why Acer SUCK!!!
Yeah, so I had to contact Acer personally. And to all tech support people out there: I know your job is hard and frustrating, and I respect you all majorly for actually doing it, but today I am no fan of tech support people.
So Acer spend a month fixing my computer, and then I get it back and it is still broken.
I contact Datakjeden where I bought it from, and get a darling named Jørn who helps me to the best of his abilities.
It's when I have to go to Acer themselves to get help that it stops.
First the guy I talk with tells me to redo a test I already have done, the very test that made Jørn tell me to call Acer to begin with.
When I fails at the same point, with the same error message (if someone could tell me what a LPCD.dat file is and what it does I would be eternally grateful), I call again. And get another guy who tells me to send the computer back to them.
I am was not nice to him. I am sorry tech support people, but I wasn't.
I told exactly how unimpressed I was with the fact that it took them a month to fix it in the first place, that I was planning on taking my computer to TG, and that I was perfectly capable of installing my own computer. I also told him that my exam is in two months, and that I would hold Acer personally responsible if I flunked.
He agreed to forward me to the recovery department which will send me a form which I will have to fill out and return to them in order for them to send me the recovery disks.
This will probably take a couple weeks, judging from their speed of doing this this far. So jah. NOT IMPRESSED.

I got a mail today, my dear laptop is back from the shop and will be shipped, hopefully, tomorrow.
I even get my old, dead hard drive back, so that I can send it in and get my data restored.
YAY^^, I am happy today^^,
So if am lucky I get it before TG^^, I hope I get it before TG^^, Sitting around on boyfriends computer won't be any fun, 'cos he won't allow me to install Blender, or Gimp, or Sims or nufinkXP

Can I have my computer back soon please?
It's been a month since I sent my computer in for repair. It's still marked as "under treatment". It's marked as being sent in 18th of February. That's over a month actually.
I miss it. The old computer is slow, and glitchy and I'm a little annoyed with Acer at the moment actually...=/

Mommy, I am a REAL nerd now=D=D
So I got my nerd-badge this SundayXD
I played D&D^^,
My character is this big burly dwarf named Frain. Since only the GM had ever played before, we played with pre-made characters. So I am a dwarf named Frain^^, And I weigh 200lbs XP
Only thing we discovered thou, it's a dumb idea to set fire to the bad guys in the first roomXP
Seeing as our GM either has a really good memory, or he is really good at writing things down and checking his notes. We were really lucky to get good perception rolls on our fleeing of the cage, 'cos we almost missed the door through the smokeXP
And I must say, some goblins are just to stupid to realize they're supposed to get hit. We had a couple that just avoided everything we threw at them, it was almost a bit freakyXP
And I HATE hate hate Fire Beetles with a passion. Vile creatures!
It's a bit hard writing about D&D yet, because I have only played once, and haven't read the rules yet, and don't really know all that much about the inner workings of the game. YetXD
But I was looking at books at my local fantasy book-store today, and I am seriously debating if 350NOK is worth it for some easy rule booksXP But I have to talk to the GM first to see which version we are playing, so that I don't get super good at the wrong rules.
I am however buying dices. These are at the top of my wish list at the moment, but I might go for some that are easier to play with. Or maybe more than one set.
I might be playing in more than one group thou, as it turns out.
Some of my other friends also really wanted to play, so I might be playing two groups^^, But there is enough Tinkerbell to go around^^,
Might not be enough Tinkerbell for school as well thou, but oh, well. I'll get around to that too I guess^^, The other group has to find a place to play first. And possibly a GM XP
In other news, my laptop. My shiny new laptop, is dead. Write sector error. Which means the harddisk is broken. Probably it was slightly defective from the get-go, and then it just died.
I am getting a new harddisk thou, so I will probably have it back in a couple of weeks, but it's just super annoying. And if I want the old harddisk back to recover my files, I'll have to pay for that.
It's really annoying that I have to pay, when it is probably their fault it's broken in the first place.
I have been really super careful with it.
*grumble*
Oh well.
I'll guess I'll go drool at rulebooks some more to lighten my moodXP

I HATE technology!
So I have cats, right? And cats have absolutely NO respect for the personal space of computers. This is common knowledge, this is why we have anti cat-typing software. But I you should think an effing laptop would be able to handle a little bump.
So one of my kitties takes a stroll over the laptop and now the darned thing has convinced itself I HAVE NO HARD-DISC!
So now I have essentially, a month old, 7000NOK, sticker covered paperweight!
So Acer is crap! My Dell took much harder use than this and she NEVER did this. Boyfriend is frantically trying to fix her, but there's only so much he can do without voiding the warranty.
And on top of that I have not gotten around to back-up yet, which means that all of my notes, a lot of unpublished poetry, the entire first chapter of a book I want to write, basically everything I have written since I got her, just poof... Gone!
Yeah, I know, you should back everything up every day, but I just never get around to it. Which is stupid of me and my own fault, but you should think a laptop would last longer then a freakin' month!

Look see, it's me=D
I was transferring all my files from the old laptop to the new laptop. And look what I found=D
It's a picture of me knee deep in A's fish pond (I am very careful not to step on any fish =D) this summer=D
This dress was very good for pond wading, as it's short enough as to not get it's edges wet=D
She has common minnows in the pond, who eat the mosquitoes, so that the mosquitoes don't eat usXP

Tomorrow is too far away
So I get my Acer Aspire Timeline 4810tg tomorrow between 8 and 12 in the morning. It's a really long time to wait.
But I'm spending tomorrow setting it up. Downloading and installing programs, tweaking said programs to work the way I want them to. Sticking stickers all over it. Testing if it really has 8 hours of battery life. That sort of thing=D
In the mean while I am distracting myself by reading about Aristotle. Which is boring to be quite honest, but necessary. I have a lecture on him this Tuesday, and I lear much better if I come prepared. That and playing facebook games. XP I have finished aalmost 20% of all my dishes on Restaurant City. Which is nice=D'

Concering my love of first lectures
I am a very excitable sort of person. All who really know me know this, and school is certainly no exception. I usually completely fall in love with all my classes during the first few lectures, and then after a while my feelings cool somewhat. Making me complain, and lecturing on about the boringness of said class. I usually pass everything thou. I have flunked twice on an exam in my entire life (more than most I am guessing), one because of a too great workload (four exams in two weeks simply proved to much for me), and one because I simply am very bad a at German.
Today I had my first Language Acquisition lecture. We are going to learn about how children first acquire language skills, about language development, and about acquiring second-language skills.
And it's so interesting I can hardly contain my excitement.
I have some suspicions that I will keep on loving this subject thou, because it's basically about the things that I found most interesting in the Language Science class I took last semester.
Language hugely interest me, and always have. I remember in Elementary School, when we started learning English, I had at one point the huge (it seemed to me at the time) epiphany that English and Norwegian words are built the same way. (Like maybe is combined from may and be and can be elongated to "that may be so", and such. You can do the exact same with kanskje, which is the same word in Norwegian.) This comes of course from the fact that these two languages are related, and have developed from the same language, but I learned this later.
As for the project of buying a laptop. Boyfriend and I went looking at laptops yesterday, and I figured, why pay 15k for a laptop when I can pay half that for something just as good? So no MacBook for meXP
Right now we are considering an Acer with an absolutely astounding battery life. It claims to be able to deliver up to 8 hours of solid working time, which was one of the things that attracted me to the MacBook in the first place. 3 hours of working time on a laptop simply will not do, I need to have a laptop that can actually last me an entire school day, not just three hours. Especially since I have not found anywhere I can recharge my laptop.
This little Acer deal is also super light, and will hopefully be able to actually fit comfortably in my backpack, something which my 15,6" Dell laptop can not.
Boyfriend is helping me confirm that this is indeed the laptop for me, and if it is I will run down-town later and buy my new baby.
I need to think up a name for her thou. In my house hold all the computers have names, so that we are easily able to differentiate between them, my Dell is called PlayGround (because that is what it was originally meant to be), the tablet is called Frøet(Froeet) (which means frog in Danish and can be used to refer to small things in Norwegian (the reference to frogs in keeping with the amphibian theme we use for naming laptops in said house holdXP)).
I have not decided yet, might not chose an amphibian name at all, maybe I will call her something else. And before you ask, all my electronic appliances are female, mostly because I firmly believe that most males are not as fussy as my electronics, and therefore they are female. Females generally need much more care than males. Should I ever acquire a stationary computer there is of course the possibility that it will be male, depending on how often it breaks down or over heats and such matters. (Plus, I like things to be pink, and while men certainly can wear pink, I usually find pink to be much more appealing on womenXP)
I am gonna go lose myself in my textbooks now=D I just love new textbooks. All that new knowledge just waiting for me to absorb it=D

Need new laptop, must make hard decision
So, I need a new laptop for school. Because my Dell has become stationary and my Tablet is broken, and wasn't really good for school use in the first place.
Problem is, I have no idea what to get.
The MacBook Pro 13" looks awesome, and has the great plus of an aluminium case, which makes it hard for me to break. But boyfriend is really very opposed (I don't really get why thou, his main argument is the price, but really I think it's mostly because he wants one too, and is a little jealous XP).
Then there is this Dell one I have been looking at, which actually amounts to more money than the MacBook.
And then boyfriend wants me to check Lenovo, which I suppose I should. But in the end it's all too technical for me, I don't really understand any of it.
What I get is, I want at least 4GB of RAM, and at least 250GB Hard Drive, I want an integrated webcam, no larger than a 14" screen (because I need to fit the damn thing in my backpack, or I have to spend even more money buying on of those too, and I really like my backpack. It's pink with Hello Kitty on it), it needs to be able to run 3D games, like Sims 3, and it of course needs to have WiFi, and as long battery life a possible, an absolute minimum of 4 hours, so that it will last me an entire school day.
And now I have to go out and find a model with all this at a price I am willing to pay, and then I have to go read reviews. And it's confusing, and boring, and I'm almost at a point where I will go into a computer shop and buy the fist damn thing I see.
Blah!

Beetle update
So it seemed I was not the one with the Longhorn Beetle, it seems Microsoft are the ones with the Longhorn Beetle in their last security update. The rest of the bugs, the ones actually on my computer were fruitflies caused by a update needed by my mp3 player. But all is good now that the fiancé got out his über awesome fruitfly landing net and removed them^^,
I am making headway with the kana, I am halfway through the book^^, And I am doing my math. I am so good^^,
