I think I have developed a love affair with South Korean music O.o
My newest discovery is G-DRAGON<3<3
He's like a cross between Lady Gaga and Nick for Backstreet boys.
Sadly, we western countries outgrew our bleached-to-death, deadly synchronized, matched to a tee, constructed with a checklist, singing groups just about the same time we changed our first two year digits from 19 to 20.
And to be honest. Good riddance. Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys, while they were certainly fun, could not have hold their own against the Asian Super Groups.
Musical Wonder Companies like Hello Project, YG Entertainment, and SM Entertainment, just spew out fun music.
They hand-pick and train all their artists at a yearly basis, and then put them in the Super Groups, like Morning Musume, or Girls Generation. Or make them successful solo artist, members of smaller groups, actors, tv-hosts. Basically anything they want in entertainment.
It's certainly true that they live by super strict rules, and are likely to be booted out for even the smallest slip up, but the fact of the matter is, these companies make STARS.
They make, and have been making for years, the thing the western countries have outgrown.
And it's fun.
If you go on youtube and look up Hello Projects yearly colab concert, where all their groups perform their greatest hits in one big concert, you'll see what I mean.
The point of this point was really that up until now, I have been foolishly think that this was mostly a Japanese phenomenon. And I was wrong, it's happening all over Japan. And thou G-DRAGON, what with being a solo artist and all, is a bad example, it's still a fun video, with a fun song.
So. Yah. Video tiem now^^,
